Paper-lined sponge cakes

When i saw leelee's post of the paper-lined sponge cakes, it reminded me of the pack of paper cups i bought mths ago from daiso, wanting to bake the exact same thing! but somehow it got pushed back and the paper cups are still sitting in the cupboards. So deciding not to procrastinate further, i took out the cups and baking papers, getting it ready in 10 mins. went ahead to make the batter as well... resulting spongecake was so fragrant, soft and yummy that i have to stop myself for eating another one! here's how it looks....

ps : the rat has mysteriously disappeared! hmmmm....

  • Hi bakingfiend,

I failed to bake this. I wonder if i have to bake this all at once in the oven cos when i bake the first batch of cake (i use waxed cupcakes)the texture was soft n fluffy but the second batch was a disaster, i found out that the batter collapsed n resulted in kuih like texture)! Even worse, the baking paper got burned when i try baking on papercups!

    Regards,

  • Mei,
This batch of sponge cakes were baked in 1 go. However, the ones in the smaller paper liners were baked after standing ard for at least 30 mins. I wanted to try cooking it over the stove but not successful... u'll notice that the tops of those cakes are not smooth. I think it's the air bubbles deflating.

Maybe yr oven wasn't hot enuf when u sent in the 2nd batch?

I was worried that the baking paper will get burnt too. thank goodness it din.

Do give it a try again. dun get discouraged, okie?

    Thanks for dropping by!
